Dereham, Norfolk - '31438'

This is one of the old diesel electric engines currently back in use on this railway line which is no longer in general service but is operated by the local railway preservation society.

I was always impressed by the terrifyingly robust design features of these engines. If you just stand beside it you get a sense of the powerful vibration and sound of its engines. Interesting to note that the romance of bygone railways has moved beyond steam.
