Lighthouse, Hook Head

The lighthouse dates from the 13th.Century and is the oldest lighthouse in Great Britain and Ireland. The original tower structure, which still stands within the more recently built outer shell, was built by the Normans to guide their ships in to Waterford Estuary. The Hook Head area of County Wexford is the site of the first Norman landings in Ireland.
