Blackcap (female)

Erratic weather in Ireland in the Winter of 2009/2010 saw the addition of some new visitors to the garden. This very pretty female Blackcap has now joined the many other species of small birds which feed right ouside the kitchen window.

Unlike the male which sports a distinctly black cap the female wears a soft chestnut colour on her head.
